Jetske Kingma, instructor – Violin & Viola

Jetske has been playing violin since she the age of 4. She studied initially with the Suzuki method and subsequently the Methode Letourneau, developed by her instructor Claude Letourneau. As a student in this method, she performed repertoire equivalent with the Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 10. She played first chair second violin for the Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec senior orchestra for 3 years. From the age of 16, she was a student teacher for 2 years and then a full instructor for 6 years, teaching M. Letourneau’s methods.

While she eventually chose a different career path, she returned to her first love, violin and teaching, in 2018. She is currently pursuing her RCM teacher certification and grade 8 exams, and hopes to complete grade 10 within the next 2 years. She has aspirations of finally mastering Mendelssohn’s violin concerto in E Minor. She is also practicing for her grade 6 piano this summer as part of her teacher qualification and has recently taken up the cello.

Jetske is currently accepting students for private and group lessons.
